For the last 3 years we have been included in a wonderful evening where Robert Ellis is the entertainment. He is from Houston, TX and has most recently been residing in Nashville. The first year he played this party, was right after he released an album called Lights from the Chemical Plant. IF you have not heard him sing, you are in for a treat. This is not the bubblegum country that comes pouring through the radio. His voice is soulful, with soaring vocals and add a bit of bluegrass and jazz. It’s hard to explain, a little twang, but with a real authentic sound.
His new album hit the street June 3rd and so far from what I heard, it is going to be one to watch. Like the talents of Kacey Musgraves and Chris Stapleton rise to the top. I am predicting Robert Ellis will make his way up there too. His star is very bright.
Check out “Drive” on his new album. He wrote this song with another awesome musician Angeleena Presley of The Pistol Annie’s. When their album Hell on Heels came out I was totally obsessed with it.. It’s like a big girl slumber party that you just want to play over and over! And that I did… Check them out too.. if you haven’t already.
But back to Robert. He is such a talented guitarist and vocalist. His album hit the streets on June 3rd.. and if you want to see him close and personal.. He will be playing at the Zanzabar in Louisville on June 28th. Get a tix and I will see you there.. It is sure to be a good time.
Here is a link to his website to check out his other tour dates http://robertellismusic.com
I’m going to go download his album and sit back and drink a bourbon!
